i'm going to be doing the soundtrack for an entry.

i guess i will have a relatively easy time of it because i can get to work on some themes as soon as i know the genre, and let the film crew do all the hard work!!!

That sounds cool. I believe we have a 24 hour challenge coming up here in New York.

This whole thing sounds extremely gimmicky to me... doesn't anyone else think that?

nope..it's a well respected competition, and some of last years entries got a lot of good reviews and exposure.

besides, it sounds like fun!

Because the time scales are so tight, the filmmakers have to look harder, work harder, get more creative...
that's what makes it so interesting and fun!

There's a quote i heard from somewhere... (not sure where though)

"Art is creatively overcoming the limitations that the artist sets upon him or her self. It does not matter what the limitations are, but if the artist can successfully express more than what the limitations should logically allow, then I think it is successful art."

so how did everyone get on?

i was only sat at home doing the music and it still went all wrong!

i came to email the songs off to be added to the film, and my isp went down!

had to burn it all onto cd and rush round a buddys house to email them from there...nightmare!!

Bloody knackard!!!

They issued the titles in order of your team name.... so being "VertinoFilms" we got ours near the end!

Title: "TED SAID"
Genre: Black Comedy

driving back to Liverpool we thought up a nice, simple story... didn't need many locations or cast.... bob's ya aunty!

got the script finished, all typed up by 5pm... had food, then ready to shoot.... finished filming around midnight, watched the dailies then off to bed....

we thought we were well ahead of schedule... so we started off taking it easy... got up around 9am had breakfast, slow start... get down to editing!

Editing wasn't a problem... had a rough cut by midday... then we had to get the soundtrack CD from a mate... lay down the tracks... add sound effects - this took ages!!

all this is going on while our girlfriends are getting more and more pissy about the swearing and shouting going on!

We got to bed around 3am this morning... up again at 8am to get the train to Manchester.... no one could give us a lift on a workday!!!
Handed the finished film in at 11:30am - an hour and a half beforethe deadline... funny watching everyone else panic and running around to hand it in before 1pm!!!

now i gotta get some sleep before work tomorrow!!!
